My Background
Professional History
I began my professional life as a US Air Force officer and pilot. The Air Force taught me to strive for excellence in all I have done. It also taught me to keep learning and challenging myself. My follow on career was as a public school teacher in Connecticut. I taught middle and high school science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) courses, always blended with aerospace science. I also coached students in a variety of STEM competitions, including CyberPatriot, the nation’s largest, youth, cybersecurity competition. I have since taught myself and taken courses in cybersecurity, earning the CompTIA Security+ certification in 2023. My goal now is to serve the community by helping people understand cybersecurity and what they can do to be better protected.
Key Skills
Critical Thinking & Problem Solving - Managing military organizations and projects, flying large aircraft globally, teaching students from every possible background, and dealing with cybersecurity issues are all areas where I have found solutions to various problems.
Creativity & Flexibility - Many problems I have solved had no set solutions, so being creative was required to get the results I wanted. Flying and teaching can both be unpredictable, so being flexible is a must.
Leadership & Teamwork - No matter where I have worked or what position I have held, I have looked for ways to provide leadership while always working with a team approach.
Communication - Teaching both pilots and public school students taught me how to get a point across clearly and effectively and to translate complex topics into understandable concepts.
